SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40

Recognizing the accomplishments of the Phi Theta Kappa All-West
Virginia Academic Team.
Whereas, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society
that recognizes the extraordinary academic achievements of students
who are enrolled in two-year programs; and
Whereas, Each of the eleven institutions in the West Virginia
public higher education system that delivers community and
technical college education has nominated two students to be
members of the All-West Virginia Academic Team for community and
technical colleges; and
Whereas, All the students who are members of the All-West
Virginia Academic Team have made the commitment and sacrifice
necessary to achieve academic excellence; and
Whereas, The 1997 All-West Virginia Community and Technical
College Academic Team consists of Christine Baldwin, Marshall
University; Teresa Berry, West Virginia University Institute of
Technology; Kathryn Cain, Northern Community College; Christina
Cathell, Potomac State College of West Virginia University; Lisa
Dillon, Shepherd College; Bruce Garrett, Glenville State College;
Candace Goerss, West Virginia Northern Community College; Diana
Green, Bluefield State College; Hilda Halstead, West Virginia State College; Amy Harper, Glenville State College; Kevin Hill, Southern
West Virginia Southern Community and Technical College; Debra Knight, West
Virginia University-Parkersburg; Sherry Loving, Southern West
Virginia Community and Technical College; Monica Markwood, Shepherd
College; Torie McCloy, West Virginia University-Parkersburg;
Mildred McPeek, West Virginia Northern Community College; Tina
Miller, West Virginia University Institute of Technology; Marcia
Moran, Fairmont State College; Jane Norris, Marshall University;
Joseph Oliver, West Virginia State College; William Renn, Bluefield
State College; Amanda Taylor, Potomac State College of West
Virginia University; and Catherine Wildman, Fairmont State College;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates the 1997 Phi Theta Kappa
All-West Virginia Academic Team members for their selection to this
outstanding organization which recognizes the extraordinary
academic achievement of students who are enrolled in two-year
programs; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the members of the Phi Theta Kappa All-
West Virginia Academic Team are commended for their commitment and
sacrifice to achieve academic excellence; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the secretary of education and the
arts, the chancellors of state college and university systems and the members of the 1997 Phi Theta Kappa All- West Virginia Academic
Team.
